Barre is one of the trendiest and at the same time most 'feminine' workouts of recent years. It combines the grace of ballet with the strength of Pilates and the calm of yoga — without needing to be a ballerina. What barre is

Barre is a workout inspired by ballet exercises, often performed at a bar (from the French barre — bar) that serves as support. It combines elements of ballet, Pilates and yoga into one flowing whole. It's characterised by small, precise movements with a limited range, repeated many times — these are what make the muscles work deeply and intensely, even though the workout looks elegant and calm.

What a barre class looks like

A typical class combines work at the bar with exercises on the mat. We focus on the legs, glutes, abs and arms, with a lot of attention to posture and movement control. There's no jumping or sudden loading here — but plenty of precision and 'burning' sets. After a good barre workout, your muscles really make themselves known.
